We select an exercise, like rowing, cycling, jogging, treadmill, etc. You can vary your sessions on different pieces of equipment if you want every session, or every week, your choice; it is you that’s doing the work. We start with 2 minutes at about level five intensity on the scale, after two minutes we up the intensity to level 6 for one minute, then up to level 7 for one minute, then up to level 8 for one minute, then up to level 9 for one minute, after the minute we then go back down to level 6 (a moderate intensity level) We repeat the this pattern 3 times but on the last cycle after we have gone from level six up to level nine we continue up to level 10 this is where you are going faster than you thought you could ever do, it is maximal effort, you cant do it any faster, then after one minute at level 10, we drop back down to level 5 for one minute, this training method is called Interval training is an excellent way of dropping body fat. But not easy!!

My BF% would be a multiple of yours. Too embarrassed to say what it is. I've never had it measured properly - just go according to my hip measurement. My excuse is that I'm female and at a particular stage of life where it sometimes feels like a losing battle. I do cardio (a la Mark Sissons and the programme on my Polar HRM) 4 to 5 days a week. I'd started weights but noted Lyle McDonald's advice not to until I'd dropped my BF% to a particular level.

My question re carbs did not really relate to refeeds, just the amount of carbs you should eat following a workout. Subsequently I read an interview with Martin where he seemed to say that carbs in the form of fruit would be more appropriate for women. That feels right. Much as I love potatoes, I feel they were part of my problem for a long time.

A CKD offers a way to combat this. It offers a cyclical "refeed" (sometimes also called a carb-up). During this phase, the diet consists mostly of complex carbohydrates , with limited fat, sucrose and fructose . Since the glycogen stores in the liver and muscles are depleted, these carbohydrates go straight to refilling them, instead of being added to the body's fat stores. For this reason, the amount of calories consumed during a refeed can be far above an individual's usual dietary intake. While a typical CKD consists of 50g or less carbs per day, the typical refeed consists of 450-600g of carbs. Also a weight gain of 1-2 lbs is usually reported during refeeding. Which would mainly be water and will normally be lost in 2–4 days.
