Wainstein's luck ran out on January 19, 2013 after police responded to a “noise” complaint at the V&A waterfront luxury condominium complex in Cape Town, South Africa. He had only entered South Africa a few weeks earlier. But the noise complaint led to Wainstein's downfall.
The United States and South Africa have an extradition treaty and the . wants to prosecute Wainstein on . soil. However, Wainstein's attorney has promised to vigorously fight the extradition request.
